Temple of Elemental Evil
Character Creation - Standard creation for our group. I tend to allow most of the books since I have a lot of them. Just remember what you use can be used against you as well if you go to off the wall. If unsure just ask, I generally say yes, especially if you have a good back story.
Starting Level for PC's: 3rd Level (2700gp wealth)
World Setting - While the module is originally Greyhawk, I'm setting it down in the Realms on the border of the Western Heartlands and Amn along the mountain ranges there setting up Verbobonc as an independent city state.
Verbobonc - Small to Large City. 15,000gp limit of a small city for normal things, but items up to the 40,000gp limit can be found with Knowledge: Local (Verbobonc) or Gather Information. (DC10 +1 per 1,000 gp)
Hommlet - Village. 400gp limit. Things can be ordered from Verbobonc though, it is about 50 miles to the Northwest. Add 20% to any cost for delivery outside of normal caravan travel (once every two weeks), only 10% if on a caravan.
Current Cast -
Shawn - Amora the Human Paladin of Torm; Imzel the Human Amazonian Barbarian (Deceased in the Moathouse)
Brian - Ug the Half-Orc Cleric of Illmater
Wade - Alinor the Elven Rogue (Retired after finding the lost body of his friend.)
The Setup -
The Church of the Triad in Verbobonc has been receiving reports of banditry along it's trade routes outside of Hommlet. It's been ongoing for a couple of months, it was originally thought to be general random acts but as investigations have lead the Church to believe their caravans have been targeted as very few of theirs go untouched.
Many of the Church elders remember the rise of the old evil within the Gnarly Forest and how it took the armies of good several months to sack the ancient temple of evil there. Knowing they could not convince the leadership of Verbobonc that the evil was rising again after over a decade of silence they would have to seek proof by sending out their own team of adventurers to investigate and stop the evil from rising again.
