Shortly after sunrise, Vierda heads to see Town's Speaker Norro Wiston at the Old Toll House. The guards out numbering the young Drow twenty to one warily allow her entrance while a runner goes to inform the Town's Speaker that his presence is requested.

The sound of "Enter" comes from the doorway. One of the guardsmen open the door gesturing you inside.
As you enter the room you can immediately see the Speaker seated at a table, but he isn't alone there is woman in a finely worked breastplate with fine long sword strapped to her side.
"My men said you wished to see me. "

Nodding to the woman in acknowledgement before turning to the Town's Speaker. "Indeed. My companions will be leaving soon for Vraath Keep. I'm sad to say but their motivation is the promise of gold. Though my brother and I see the cause of aiding your town to be worthy in it's own right, my new companions only see a tangible reward as motivation. I have seen them fight and they are indeed powerful. They could be of great use to Drellin's Ferry. You would be wise to enlist them in helping to stop the mounting threat to your lands. What say you?"

"If Jorr's reports are to be believed we will have need of your group," the young woman officer says. Nodding in agreement, the Speaker points to a map on the table, "He says they are massing north of the Skull Gorge, but the information is weeks old. There is no telling how far they may have advanced. As Captain Anitah says, there is great need for you all." "Our town is under attack, raids have been occurring with increasing frequency. We have found outlying homesteads burned to the ground all killed or missing. Travellers along the Dawn Way have reported sightings or worse gone entirely missing." "So your friends are mercenary types than," the Captain asks. Seeing your nod, "The council has offered a signing bonus of five hundred gold for each hero we can get to join our cause. Past that there is not much our town can offer. Though a few of the merchants holed up here that made it along the Dawn Way might have supplies you can use." "We plan on fortifying this side of the river, we hope for help from Brindol but they may not arrive in force in time." The worry evident on the Speaker's face. "Anything you can do to help our cause would be appreciated," says the Captain as she drinks a hot tea looking over the map of the ferry in detail at the planned fortifications.

Does this Vraath Keep hold any tactical advantage for the raids as a base? Has this, Jorr, scouted out the area?"

"We haven't heard from Jorr for a week. Normally that isn't unusual for him to not be around for months at a time, but in these dark times..." the Speaker trails off.
"Yes the keep, even in its state it would of use tactically. Not as vital as the Skull Gorge, but even haunted it might hold value to them."
"In addition to the funds I mentioned earlier your friends can keep what they take from the horde. Though anything of military value we will have need of." "Now is there is anything else you need?"

Looking at the map, Vierda points to spot marked Skull Gorge Bridge. "If your enemy is amassing in the north and west of here. I assume this bridge is the fastest way to move an army if they intended to invade. If we destroy this bridge, we could add time for your people to prepare a defense or if the force is too large when we see it, evacuate. Is that acceptable?"

"As much as we would hate to lose the bridge, if you can't hold the bridge its destruction would hold them for a day or two till they found their way around."

"Understood. Have you any information on their numbers or any monsterous allies?"

"We know hobgoblins for sure, but the rest of the reports range from goblins to giants to dragons. I suspect there are kernels of truth in some of it, but nothing is verified as of yet."

Nodding, "I see. Which trail would you suggest for the swiftest route to the keep and then onto the gorge?"

The Dawns Way is by far the quickest way, the witches trail takes you through the woods. Both lead to the first bridge.

"Any other information about the woods or our foes that may be useful?"

"Be mindful of Jorr's dogs he loves them more than anyone living if you run into him out there."
"Does your motley crew have a name that we can enter into our rolls for payment?"

Smiling at her own humor, the Darksong Knight says, "Well I've not been with them long but if I were to name them it would be Procuration Inc. I suggest using that for the time being until they come up with one of their own."
